Problem:
I am having trouble getting my Cover Letter and Resume into E-mails

Get Your Resume into E-Mails

Problem: I send out lots of resumes but don’t get very many interviews.
Answer: This usually means that you are not doing a good enough job of
tailoring your resume to each specific opportunity. If you don’t spend at least ½
hour in tailoring your (generic) resume for each job opportunity, you don’t stand
much of a chance of getting an interview.

Problem: I’ve gone on several interviews but haven’t gotten any job offers.
Answer:  Interviewing is 80% Preparation, 10% Perspiration (during the
interview) and 10% Follow-Up when conducted correctly. If you are following the
Interviewing instructions in the manual, you will: be dressed properly, have the
proper grooming, be ready to respond to any question, have good questions of
your own, and find out what went wrong. If this is true, get a more severe critic
with whom you practice your interviews.

Problem: I can’t find (m)any Job Openings for which I am qualified.
Answer:  It is most likely that your Networking skills need improvement. Increase
your proactive (Targeted) Networking time. Widen your circle of contacts. If these
changes don’t work, widen your geographic search area. Finally, if all else fails,
get training in skills for which there is a demand.

Problem: I can’t seem to get going. I’m very depressed and know I’m not doing
everything I should.
Answer:  That’s understandable. Getting a job is “The Worst” job most people
will ever have. However, it is a job. Treat it like one. If you put in an honest, 8 hour,
day (regardless of how tough it is), you will get out of this terrible job a lot sooner
than if you don’t. Work Hard to Get Happy!
